To Spam test your email content, go to the SPAM Test page from the menu.

Within the spam test page, select the email id which is connect to your account through which emails will be sent.

Then select or type the email content. You can either write a fresh email or use any of the existing email content which you would like to test.

Enter the subject and the email content respectively.

Once all the details are entered, click on “Check Spammyness of my email” button.

Then page will reload and provide you the SPAM results.

You can check where you have been blacklisted.

You can check if there are any broken link.

Check what SpamAssassin think you can improve.

Check if you are properly authenticated.

After signing up successfully, next you can – create new mailing lists, email templates, and multiple cold email campaigns.

Now, let’s look at how to add a new mailing list to your app.

Add a new mailing list

Go to the Email Campaigns Dashboard within your cold email automation app and click on the ‘Manage Mailing Lists’ button.

You will be redirected to the following window. Here you either upload your already existing data or create a new mailing list.

To upload data, click on the highlighted box as shown in the image below and choose the CSV file you wish to import.

Note: Make sure that the first column of your CSV file contains the list of emails with a header named “Email”.

The following window with a preview of the list of emails in your CSV file will pop up. Enter the file name and click on ‘save’.

You can see your list in the “CSV mailing lists” section right below. Simply click on the name to open the mailing list.

In case, you want to delete this file or any of the files enlisted there, click on the name of that particular file. You will be redirected to the following window. There is a delete option right in front of the name of the file as shown in the image below. Click on that icon and your file will be deleted.

If you don’t have a CSV file, you can create a mailing list from the app itself.

To do so, click on the “Google Spreadsheets” option right beside the “CSV files” option.

You will be redirected to the following window. Click on the “sign in with Google” to grant access to your Google Drive and Spreadsheet to start creating the list.

Choose the account you connected to while signing in initially.

Allow SafeMailer to have access to your Google Drive and Google Spreadsheets.

You will be taken to the “Add new Mailing List” page where you can see all the manually created mailing lists right below in the “Mailing lists” section.

In order to create a new mailing list, you first need to enter the name of your mailing list and save it.

You will see the name of the list enlisted in the ‘mailing lists’ section right below.

Click on that name and SafeMailer will create a new Google Spreadsheet. You can manually add or copy-paste all the recipients for your email campaign here.

The values in ‘Name’ and ‘Company’ columns can be used to personalize your cold emails. You can also add new columns to the sheet for further personalizing your email campaign.

Data from these additional columns can also be used in your emails by adding personalization tags of the form #COLUMN_TITLE#. For example, #Case Study Subject# or #Business Process# tags can also be used in your email template in this case.

That’s it! After you enter or paste your contacts in this sheet, you can use them for any number of email campaigns.

After setting up your cold email automation app, next you can – create new mailing lists, email templates, and multiple cold email campaigns.

Now, let’s look at how to create a new email template for your cold email campaigns.

Add a new email template

Go to the Email Campaigns Dashboard from your cold email automation app. Then click on the ‘Manage Email Templates’ button.

In the new email template page, you’ll see a simple HTML editor. Here you can easily create your email template.

Simply add a “Title” for your email template. Then add a “Subject” which will be used as your default subject line in case you don’t add a subject while creating the campaign.

Then in the “Email Content” field type your email. You can use various features from the menu bar like font, add image, etc. to create a good-looking email template.

You can personalize your email by using short codes. SafeMailer allows smart selection of frequently used short codes while creating email template. These frequently used short codes include Name, Email, Company and Unsubscribe.

For smart selection of these short codes simply add a “#” after which a drop-down with frequently used short code will be visible. You can select and add any required short codes by simply clicking on it.

If you have added any additional columns to your mailing list for personalizing your campaign, you can insert the data from those columns to your emails by simply adding #COLUMN_TITLE# tags to your template.

For example, if the column title is “User guide link”, then add the #User guide link# tag to your email template.

After adding your email content simply click on “Save Email Template”.

You will be redirected to the “edit email template” window. You can immediately make changes to your template from here and click on “update” to save the new version.

That’s it! After you type your email content in this HTML editor, you can use it for any number of email campaigns.

In case, if you want to revisit your email templates in the future, you can do so by clicking on the “manage email templates” tab.

You will see a list of all the email templates right below the “Create new email template” section.

Simply, click on the email list name you want to update or delete and you will be redirected to the “Edit email template” window.

You can launch a new email campaign in 3 easy steps.

First, click on the “use a template” toggle button to select an email template to be used for this campaign and enter the display name.

Please note, your email subject can also be personalized similar to the main email text.

You will be able to preview the email text from the selected template.

A/B testing

If you want to run an A/B test to see which subject line works best, you can easily do it by clicking on Enable A/B test.

Then enter the number of emails for which you want to run the A/B test for in “Send A/B Test Emails To”. You can enter multiple subject lines next. You can run an A/B test for up to 4 subject lines.

If you don’t want to run a A/B test, simply ignore this section.

If the email content looks satisfactory, then scroll down and click on the ‘Next’ button to go to the next step of selecting a mailing list.

You can directly add or remove recipients in the spreadsheet itself.

When the mailing list is finalized, click the ‘Next’ button at the bottom.

The final step is to define a schedule and a daily number of emails for your campaign. You can select the days and times when your emails should be sent, specify the applicable time zone, and finally put a cap on how many emails should be sent every day.

Please note that, you should start with a low daily number of emails for a new sender address and then you can gradually increase it as your sender reputation builds up over time.

Click on the button “Create New Campaign” bottom to create and schedule your new email campaign.

Adding personal data attributes to mailing lists

When you create your mailing list on SafeMailer or import a CSV file, the basic data of your audience – email, name, company, etc. will be added to a Google Spreadsheet and you can use that data to personalize your emails, by adding tags like – #Name#, #Company# to your email templates.

Note: If you import a CSV file, make sure that the first column of the file contains a list of emails. Also, if you want the recipient’s name to be imported, make sure to add the company name as well.

But you can also further personalize your emails by adding multiple new columns and giving them appropriate titles. For example – Case Study Subject, Business Process, Address, City, State, etc.

The data from these new columns can also be used to personalize your emails. Let’s see how.

Adding personalization tags to email template

When you create an email template for your campaign in a Google Document, you can personalize your emails by adding personalization tags of the format – #COLUMN_TITLE# at appropriate places.

For example, if a column is titled ‘User guide link’, you can use the data from that column in your emails by adding a tag #User guide link# to your template.

In this fashion, you can add any number of columns to your mailing lists and then add corresponding personalization tags (#COLUMN_TITLE#) to the email templates. This gives you unlimited flexibility to personalize your cold emails and ensure they are engaging.
